Crystal New Materials Supplies 60 Million Yuan Graphene... Spotlight on Key Material for Secondary Batteries

Graphene Subsidiary Tanggu Erwei Signs Supply Contract with Mengde New Materials
30 Sets of Graphene Production Line Commissioned Last Month... Full-Scale Production Starts This Month
Graphene-Added Electrolytic Copper Foil Doubles Electrical Conductivity and Improves Tensile Strength by 60%

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] China Crystal New Materials Holdings has signed a graphene supply contract worth 60 million yuan (approximately 11.1 billion KRW) with Jiangsu Mengde New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. (Mengde New Materials), a specialty chemical products company.

Crystal New Materials formed a strategic partnership with Mengde New Materials in June last year through its graphene business subsidiary Jiangsu Tanguer Weisejie Technology Co., Ltd. (Tanguer Weise). Following the completion of the trial operation of 30 newly established graphene production lines by Tanguer Weise on the 30th of last month and the official start of graphene production on the 5th of this month, the two companies have signed a formal supply contract.

Crystal New Materials’ graphene material can be applied to electrolytic copper foil used in copper plates and printed circuit boards. It is known that adding an appropriate amount of graphene to electrolytic copper foil significantly improves performance in tensile strength, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance.

According to company research, electrolytic copper foil with added graphene showed 60% higher tensile strength and twice the electrical conductivity compared to products without graphene. The unique two-dimensional structure of graphene was also found to enhance corrosion resistance.

Electrolytic copper foil is especially recognized as a core material for lithium-ion batteries (secondary batteries), so electrolytic copper foil with improved performance due to graphene addition is expected to see increased utilization across various industrial fields. Advanced new material graphene is called the "dream nanomaterial" due to its excellent electron mobility, thermal conductivity, elasticity, and transparency. It is considered a highly versatile material used in composite materials, electronics, biotechnology, energy, and wearable industries.

A representative from Mengde New Materials stated, "Existing graphene products had limitations in application and large-scale distribution in related fields due to quality and productivity issues. Through this contract, we have secured high-quality graphene, laying the foundation for the company’s development."

According to the contract, Crystal New Materials will start by delivering 1500kg of graphene through Tanguer Weise by the end of this month and plans to complete the total order quantity in five installments by March next year.

Daizhong Qiu, CEO of Crystal New Materials, introduced, "We have completed the trial operation of the graphene production line by concentrating company-wide capabilities, and currently, all equipment operations and various indicators are meeting equipment requirements normally." He added, "Order intentions are continuing from other graphene application companies besides Mengde New Materials, and the two companies have already started negotiations on various aspects such as technical indicators."

Meanwhile, Mengde New Materials is a high-tech company established in 1996 that researches, develops, and produces electrochemistry, new energy chemistry, biochemistry, and related specialty chemical products.
