[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Chilsung Beverage announced on the 12th that it will newly launch the non-alcoholic beer ‘Cloud Clear Zero.’
Since the release of ‘Cloud Clear Zero’ in 2017, Lotte Chilsung Beverage has continuously conducted research on its taste, and now presents ‘Cloud Clear Zero,’ which is closer to the original taste of beer.
Through this change, the company plans to respond to the growing non-alcoholic beer market, which is expanding due to the drinking culture that values health amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the home drinking and solo drinking cultures where people enjoy light drinking at home. The non-alcoholic beer market, which was worth 1.3 billion KRW in 2012, is estimated to have grown to 15 billion KRW last year, and the industry expects it to surpass 20 billion KRW this year.
‘Cloud Clear Zero’ is a product focused on realizing the smooth flavor and aroma of hops. To achieve this, it uses a proprietary method to optimally blend malt extract and European hops, which are most suitable for non-alcoholic beer, to further embody the unique taste of beer.
‘Cloud Clear Zero’ is made using a non-fermentation manufacturing process that does not go through the fermentation stage where yeast consumes sugars in the wort to produce alcohol, resulting in a completely zero-alcohol product with an alcohol content of 0.00%. Additionally, with a 350ml capacity and 30 kcal, it can be enjoyed without burden even by calorie-conscious consumers.
Lotte Chilsung Beverage is aiming to grow non-alcoholic beer sales through various sales channels, including offline stores such as convenience stores and supermarkets, as well as its direct online mall ‘Chilsung Mall.’ In fact, sales of ‘Cloud Clear Zero’ from January to September this year have grown by 30% compared to the previous year, showing a growth trend in performance.
A Lotte Chilsung Beverage official said, “After continuous research and development since its launch, we are presenting ‘Cloud Clear Zero,’ which is closer to the taste of beer,” and added, “We expect it to be enjoyed lightly anytime and anywhere.”
