The Criminal Division 1 of the Pohang Branch of Daegu District Court (Presiding Judge Kwon Soon-hyang) announced on the 11th that A (28) was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of assaulting and causing the death of his scolding father.
According to the Pohang Branch, A is accused of becoming angry when his father threatened him with a weapon and told him not to enter the house last August, and assaulted his father who was resting in the living room, causing a cerebral hemorrhage that led to his death.
The court stated, "Although the defendant's assault on and causing the death of his own father is an inhumane crime with a high degree of blameworthiness, we considered that immediately after the crime, cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed until the 119 emergency team arrived, showing efforts to revive the victim, and that the crime was somewhat impulsive."
