Late Park Won-soon’s Representative Jeong Cheol-seung Accused of Sexual Harassment and Quasi-Rape Charges

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] It has been revealed that lawyer Jeong Cheol-seung, the legal representative of the bereaved family of the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, is under investigation for charges including sexual assault.

According to the police on the 9th, in May, a woman identified as A filed a complaint against lawyer Jeong for sexual assault and quasi-rape, and the case is currently under investigation.

It is reported that A testified to the police that she was sexually assaulted by lawyer Jeong, who was the opposing counsel in her case, in 2018.

The police plan to summon lawyer Jeong soon to verify the facts.

Previously, on the 6th, lawyer Jeong himself disclosed on his Facebook that he had been informed by the police about the complaint against him.

Regarding A, lawyer Jeong stated, "Three years ago, this woman persistently stalked me, spreading false information that she was dating me and that we were going to get married. She also trespassed into my office multiple times and was eventually criminally punished with a prison sentence of either one year or one year and six months, suspended for three years." He added, "It seems she has started again as her probation period is ending."

He continued, "At that time, while undergoing police investigation and criminal trial, this woman was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital to avoid imprisonment. I am not sure whether she is genuinely mentally ill or just pretends to be crazy when it is disadvantageous to her."

He further said, "It was absurd and laughable that a woman who was punished like that would file a sexual assault complaint against me, the victim. Is this a calculation that any man can be targeted for sexual harassment and be punished? This is the deplorable reality of the Republic of Korea."
