Somagen Obtains Patent for Molecular Identifier Characterizing Single Molecule Order Sequencing and Nucleic Acid Base Sequence Features

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] SomaGen announced on the 6th that it has obtained a European registered patent titled 'Unique Molecular Identifier for Single Molecule Sequencing and Characterization of Nucleic Acid Sequences.'

The company explained, "This patent pertains to the development of a target sequencing method using single molecule base sequencing technology and specific molecular markers (UMI)." It added, "By integrating with multiplex sequencing technology, it can accurately measure specific microbial markers, genomic variations, or RNA expression levels, thereby expanding its application to areas such as diagnosis of conditions including diseases related to microbes and genetic diagnostics in the future."
