Recruitment of 1,793 Students with 13,075 Applicants
Physical Therapy Department Has the Highest Ratio at 33.67 to 1
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Yeongnam Institute of Technology recorded an average competition rate of 7.3 to 1, with 13,075 applicants applying for 1,793 recruitment spots (within quota) in the first round of early admissions on the 4th.
Despite the challenging educational environment due to the decline in the school-age population, this marks a significant increase from last year's first round early admission average competition rate of 4.7 to 1. Including those outside the quota, the total number of applicants for the first round early admissions was 14,756, showing a high average competition rate of 8.2 to 1, attracting attention.
The 1,793 recruitment spots in the first round of early admissions account for about 86.57% of the total 2,071 early admission spots for the 2022 academic year. Among the major departments, the Department of Physical Therapy recorded the highest competition rate at 33.67 to 1.

By admission type, △ General High School Track had the highest competition rate at 9.43 to 1, followed by △ Specialized High School Track 7.57 to 1 △ Self-Recommendation Track 5.23 to 1 △ University Internal Track 2.49 to 1.

Especially in the newly established Self-Recommendation Track this year, competition rates were △ Travel & Aviation Master Department 50 to 1 △ i-Management and Accounting Division 14 to 1 △ Health Care Administration Department 13 to 1 △ Department of Sports Rehabilitation and Exercise Management 12 to 1 △ Design School 11.5 to 1 △ Fashion Live Commerce Department 10.5 to 1.
This increase in competition rates is analyzed as a result of the university presenting a vision to students through a top-tier vocational education system based on departmental educational achievements, establishing various competitive new departments for the 4th industrial revolution and regional talent development, restructuring various admission tracks considering student characteristics, inviting students and parents for departmental visits, conducting outreach admission briefings, establishing admission promotion hubs, and actively promoting admissions online and offline through YouTube live admission briefing broadcasts amid bold structural reforms.
The first round early admission interviews will be conducted face-to-face and non-face-to-face by department on the 16th and 17th. First-round early admission successful candidates will receive a 50% tuition scholarship, and additional successful candidates will receive a scholarship of 1 million KRW.
Recently, Yeongnam Institute of Technology has maintained its reputation as an excellent university in educational capacity and competitiveness by being selected as a general financial support university in the Ministry of Education's basic university competency diagnosis, receiving an A grade in the 2021 Specialized College Innovation Support Project (Type I) performance evaluation, being the only nationwide selection for the 2021 industrial field exploration and job mentoring project for high school students, and being selected for the specialized leading college support project in new industry fields.
