Hanwha's New Executive Promoted After 7 Months as Department Head

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Jo Yong-woo, Vice President of Hanwha Solutions' Strategy Division, was promoted to Managing Director in the regular executive personnel announcement made on the 5th. He had previously been promoted to General Manager in March this year, becoming an executive within seven months.

The company explained this year's personnel changes by stating, "To strengthen future strategic businesses including hydrogen, we have prioritized personnel and appointed a large number of young talents with high future growth potential as new executives." Hanwha Solutions announced the regular personnel changes about a month earlier than in the past to reorganize the organization mainly around newly appointed executives and to prepare and execute next year's business plans early.

Hanwha Solutions is a key affiliate of Hanwha Group engaged in various businesses such as chemical (Chemical), renewable energy (Q CELLS), advanced materials, distribution (Galleria), and urban development (Insight). Kim Dong-kwan, the eldest son of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon, serves as the head of the Strategy Division.

In the Chemical division, Executive Directors Kim Jae-hyung and Jung Hoon-taek were promoted to Vice Presidents, and in the Insight division, Executive Director Lim Jae-hwan was promoted to Vice President. In addition, 39 people were promoted in total, including 10 Executive Directors and 26 Managing Directors.

Hanwha Solutions stated, "The timing of personnel changes was advanced to enable executives leading practical organizations to establish next year's business plans under their responsibility and to achieve targets without setbacks," adding, "We plan to place young executives with global capabilities in key positions to foster future new growth businesses and strengthen the energy business."
