Seoul City to Host '2021 World DJ Festival' at Jangchung Gymnasium from 9th to 11th

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Facilities Corporation announced on the 5th that it will hold a non-face-to-face concert, the '2021 World DJ Festival,' for three days from the 9th to the 11th at Jangchung Gymnasium in Jung-gu, Seoul, in collaboration with telecom company LG Uplus and event planning company BPCTangent.

The biggest feature of the '2021 World DJ Festival' is that the stage is produced with AR (Augmented Reality) and enhanced with VR filming and editing technology to create an XR (Extended Reality) performance. Audiences can experience a 360° ultra-realistic performance set against various spaces tailored to the DJing. The 'XR Festival' addresses the needs of performers who want to hold concerts and audiences who want to enjoy them even amid the COVID-19 situation.

The '2021 World DJ Festival' features 44 domestic artist teams. Top domestic EDM artists such as ‘Juncoco,’ the representative of Korean EDM, world-class DJs like ‘SODA,’ creative and energetic ‘ASTER&NEO,’ versatile musician and DJ ‘SHAUN,’ genre-fluid ‘J.E.B,’ and the head of underground label Dabotop Records ‘Bagagee Viphex 13’ will perform, showcasing their unique styles.

Director Cho Sung-il said, “Although it is difficult to hold events or festivals due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, various organizations collaborated to prepare the VR festival,” and added, “Since AR and VR technologies have great potential for expansion, we will strive to create more attractions at the various facilities operated by the corporation.”
