[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate from the People Power Party, on the 3rd demanded that Lee Jae-myung, the leading presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea and Governor of Gyeonggi Province, "withdraw from the race and undergo a special prosecutor investigation."

On the same day, Yoon said on Facebook, "Lee is being pointed out as the mastermind behind the Daejang-dong Gate."

He added, "Lee boasted, 'I designed it,' but as problems began to surface one by one, he completely reversed everything he said. He says he doesn't want to undergo a special prosecutor investigation but is willing to accept an investigation by the joint investigation headquarters. Is he expecting a scapegoat-style investigation?"

He continued, "Yoo Dong-gyu, who is among Lee's closest aides, is one with Lee. If the person who even helped with the election is not a close aide, then who is? Is Yoo Dong-gyu Yoo Gil-dong? Why can't he be called a close aide?"

Yoon stated, "All the currently revealed circumstances, including the Daejang-dong Gate, trial trading, and post-bribery allegations, are connected to Lee. The biggest beneficiary of all these events is Lee."

He then urged, "He should step down not only from the governorship but also from the candidacy and undergo a special prosecutor investigation. Only by undergoing a clean special prosecutor investigation and standing before the judgment of history can the public accept the investigation results."

He added, "Can a major presidential candidate accused of being the mastermind behind a serious crime properly conduct a presidential election? I urge him to make a decision."
