[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] As of 9 PM on the 2nd, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases nationwide was recorded at 1,877.


This is 193 fewer than the 2,070 cases recorded at the same time the previous day, and 615 fewer than the mid-day tally of 2,492 from last Saturday (September 25), one week ago.


By 9 PM on this day, 1,364 new cases (72.7%) were reported in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 513 new cases (27.3%) were reported in non-metropolitan areas.


By city and province, the numbers are as follows: Seoul 708, Gyeonggi 527, Incheon 129, Gyeongbuk 97, Gyeongnam 63, Daegu 56, Gangwon 45, Chungbuk and Chungnam 44 each, Daejeon 41, Busan 33, Jeonbuk 27, Gwangju 22, Jeonnam 21, Ulsan 15, and Jeju 5.


Among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, Sejong has not yet reported any confirmed cases.


Therefore, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced as of midnight on the 3rd is expected to be around 2,000.


The previous day saw an increase of 178 cases after 9 PM, closing at a final count of 2,248.


The daily confirmed cases have remained in the four-digit range for 88 consecutive days since July 7 (1,211 cases), and the 3rd will mark the 89th day.
