[Asia Economy Reporter Jo Yoo-jin] On the 2nd, the number of new COVID-19 cases in South Korea was recorded in the mid-2200s. It has been 88 consecutive days since the daily number of confirmed cases has remained in the four digits following the 4th wave.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on this day, 2,248 new cases were added, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 316,020.
The number of new cases decreased by 238 compared to the previous day (2,486), and compared to a week ago on the 25th of last month, when there were 3,271 cases, it decreased by 1,023.
On the 25th of last month, due to the impact of the Chuseok holiday, the number of new cases was unusually high, marking the highest figure since the COVID-19 outbreak in South Korea.
Regarding the infection routes of the new cases, 2,221 were locally transmitted, and 27 were imported from overseas. The death toll increased by 7, reaching a total of 2,504.
The 4th wave, which began in early July, has continued for about three months but shows no signs of subsiding.
With cluster infections continuing nationwide, the daily number of confirmed cases has remained in the four digits for 88 consecutive days since July 7th (1,211 cases).
