[New Release] Feminism Report Feminism Report

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Since 2015, Korean society cannot be discussed without mentioning feminism. The wave of feminism has swept through various parts of Korean society, eliminating, changing, and creating many things.

The new book, Feminism Report, is the result of four reporters who have persistently followed women's issues coming together to trace the path feminism has taken over the past five years. Although their affiliated media outlets, ages, and areas of interest differ, the four reporters share the commonality of continuously covering women's issues, each delving deeply into one specific topic.

The topics the four reporters focused on are 탈코르셋 (Talcorset), digital sex crimes, women's labor and wage issues, and anti-discrimination laws. These are representative subjects among the feminism-related issues that have emerged prominently over the past five years. The reporters conducted their investigations centered on major incidents representing each issue, meticulously organizing the processes, repercussions, outcomes, and changes that occurred. Dynamic developments such as new precedents being established, alternative products emerging, familiar concepts changing, and sentencing guidelines for crimes being revised are clearly presented, allowing readers to grasp the trajectory feminism has followed since 2015 at a glance. The book’s origin in the reporters’ detailed notes adds credibility through thorough fact-checking.

The wave of feminism is ongoing. Among the changes documented in Feminism Report, there are meaningful achievements, but many tasks remain unfinished. In this regard, the book is closer to an interim report than a final one. The four authors do not merely review past incidents but also propose remaining challenges and future tasks. By calmly organizing the hectic past five years, this book serves as a good guide to gauge the direction feminism should take moving forward.
