The petitioner previously posted on September 23, stating that "the confidence that allowed Jang to commit crimes so far was because his father, National Assembly member Jang Je-won, existed."

He criticized, "Jang's continuous criminal acts bear responsibility on Jang Je-won as his father," adding, "Nowadays, drunk driving is naturally recognized as a murderous act, but instead of reflecting on or correcting his son's ongoing murderous behavior, Jang shamelessly appears before the public and only criticizes other politicians, which is a vulgar act unbefitting a member of the National Assembly."

He continued, "Leaving that power as it is is equivalent to providing the cause of crime to the criminal," and added, "The strict and fearsome state power for ordinary people seems so ridiculous to this family that it makes me feel ashamed."

As the controversy spread, Assemblyman Jang resigned from his position as head of the comprehensive situation office of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's campaign on the 28th, saying, "I deeply reflect on the sin of raising my child poorly and will take time for self-reflection."

He also appealed, "I couldn't endure even for a minute. My wife spends sleepless nights in tears, my mother cannot eat properly, and our home has become a ruin," adding, "I have no face to the people and feel deeply sorry to candidate Yoon Seok-yeol."

Meanwhile, Jang, who was booked on charges including refusal to take a breathalyzer test, driving without a license, and obstruction of official duties, appeared at the Seoul Seocho Police Station at around 7 p.m. on the 30th, 12 days after the incident, and was questioned as a suspect until around 12:40 a.m.
