[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] The Gangjin Celadon Festival, Gangjin-gun's representative festival that was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held as an online festival from the 1st to the 7th of next month.
According to the Gangjin-gun Festival Promotion Committee on the 29th, most events will be conducted online, but considering the county's high vaccination rate and the many age groups that find online participation difficult, face-to-face programs such as experiential events and Eup-Myeon Harmony Day will be prepared, strictly adhering to quarantine guidelines and allowing participation only for those who have completed the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
All events will be conducted in strict compliance with social distancing quarantine guidelines, with measures such as phased visitor limits and temperature checks in place.
Gangjin-gun has established an online platform for festival operation on its YouTube channel (Gangjin-gun JjinTube) and the festival website. An online broadcasting studio will be set up at the main stage in Daegu-myeon Celadon Village, and various performances and programs will be live-streamed via YouTube.
The representative program, "Gangjin Tour Healing Busker," is a healing concert featuring various genres set against famous Gangjin landmarks such as Gaudo Island, Gangjin Bay Ecological Park, and Baegundong Garden. It will be held four times during the festival period, providing enjoyment to residents and participants with dance and singing performances at each major tourist site.
Additionally, the Eup-Myeon Online Singing Contest will hold preliminary rounds on the 5th of next month, selecting 11 finalists on the 6th. A total prize of 3 million KRW, from grand prize to honorable mentions, is prepared.
Furthermore, a quiz competition about Gangjin will be held featuring one representative of Gangjin and 49 general participants. Anyone can participate through the festival website, and questions related to Gangjin will be presented.
Notably, from the 1st to the 4th of next month, Gangjin premium celadon products will be available at a 40% discount through Naver Shopping Live starting at 1 PM. From the 3rd to the 6th, local specialties such as rice, oats, and paprika will be available at a 10% discount starting at 5 PM.
The auction of celadon wares via Onbid will also be increased to two sessions during the festival period, with 30 items auctioned.
Meanwhile, the county has launched the Gangjin Celadon Festival website and is actively promoting the 49th Gangjin Celadon Festival through events such as the Gangjin Memory Travel Photo Contest, YouTube comment events, and SNS sharing events before the festival begins.
County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, "Although the festival format has changed from the traditional face-to-face to a non-face-to-face offline method due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, this Celadon Festival is organized to focus on income-generating events to overcome the local economic crisis and programs that residents and tourists can easily enjoy by extensively utilizing online media." He added, "We ask for the active interest and participation of residents and tourists."
