[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] SK Telecom is stepping up its role as a game distributor by participating in the Tokyo Game Show 2021, one of the world's top three game expos.
According to SK Telecom on the 29th, the company, which is the only one among Asian countries collaborating on '5GX Cloud Gaming' with Microsoft (MS) Xbox, will set up a separate online booth at the Tokyo Game Show held for four days starting on the 30th, where it plans to unveil publishing console games developed in cooperation with domestic game developers.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the Tokyo Game Show is a globally significant game expo event that announces new games released on various platforms such as home consoles, smartphones, and PCs, along with extensive game information. This year, over 300 game companies worldwide are participating remotely.
The publishing games SK Telecom is unveiling at this Tokyo Game Show through collaboration with domestic game developers include four titles: the action shooting game "Anvil" (developed by Action Square), the RPG game "Supssok-ui Jageun Manyeo" (The Little Witch in the Forest) (developed by Sunnysideup), the action adventure game "Vapor World" (developed by Alive), and the card action game "Neoverse" (developed by Tino Games).
Among these, "Anvil," officially scheduled for release at the end of this year, will showcase a new cinematic trailer, developer interviews, and a new demo version for the first time at the Tokyo Game Show.
With its participation in this Tokyo Game Show, SK Telecom has become the first domestic telecom company to participate in all three of the world's major game expos. It is expected to solidify its position as a leading game publishing business. At the 'E3 2021' held last June, it was also selected as the 'Most Popular Online Booth' by visitors.
Jae-yu Cho, SK Telecom's game manager, said, "It is an honor to reveal the new demo and trailer video of 'Anvil' to Asian fans for the first time through the Tokyo Game Show, one of the world's top three game expos," adding, "We will continue to discover excellent Korean indie games such as 'Supssok-ui Jageun Manyeo' and 'Vapor World' and introduce them at global game shows, supporting small and medium-sized game companies to succeed in the global market."
