SK C&C's 'AI Noon' Captures Golden Time for Safety in Industrial Sites

SK C&C's 'AI Noon' Captures Golden Time for Safety in Industrial Sites

SK㈜ C&C’s ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Eye’ is being utilized in industrial sites by combining with ultra-precise positioning solutions.

On the 29th, SK C&C announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with spatial information service specialist AKT Gongganjeongbo to develop an ‘AI Vision Analysis Service Platform Based on Ultra-Precise Location Information.’

AKT Gongganjeongbo is a satellite navigation system (GNSS) specialist company that provides information such as the location, altitude, and speed of ground objects using satellites. It possesses real-time kinematic (RTK) technology that reduces the existing positioning error range of 1 to 2 meters to centimeter-level accuracy.

Through this agreement, SK C&C’s AI eye ‘iFactory Smart Vision’ will be combined with AKT Gongganjeongbo’s ultra-precise positioning solution ‘AKTRTK.’ AKTRTK provides on-site data such as video, location, posture, temperature, and humidity of rescue requesters and hazardous materials based on ultra-precise positioning in industrial sites and daily life. Then, iFactory Smart Vision detects risks in real time and issues warnings through object detection, video identification, and data-linked analysis.

The two companies will develop services to secure the ‘AI Golden Time’ in industrial safety-critical environments such as construction sites, hazardous facilities including gas pipeline networks, and public transportation service sites.

At construction sites, CCTV can recognize heavy equipment vehicles and people to prevent collision accidents. It is also possible to monitor the safety helmet wearing status of construction workers in real time. When applied to buses, it can monitor safety when passengers disembark and detect suddenly darting vehicles or pedestrians to prevent accidents. It can also be used in ‘smart farms’ in agricultural fields. It can assist in pesticide spraying through autonomous driving of agricultural machinery and analysis of fruit conditions in orchards.

Ku Ja-deok, CEO of AKT Gongganjeongbo, said, “We are now able to utilize AI vision analysis technology that had not been applied due to technical limitations. We expect to significantly enhance the level of service based on ultra-precise location information and apply it widely in public and private sectors.” Yoo Hae-jin, head of SK C&C’s Manufacturing Digital Division, said, “We want to help safety in various industrial sites and daily life by utilizing sensors based on ultra-precise location information.”
