The Best Award Winning Team Receives a Scholarship of 10 Million Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The Korea Exchange is hosting a securities and derivatives competition for university students.
On the 28th, the Korea Exchange announced that it will hold the "17th National University Student Securities and Derivatives Competition," sponsored by the Financial Services Commission, starting today.
Since 2005, this annual competition has been held to provide university students with opportunities to increase their interest in the capital market and to discover ideas and talented individuals necessary for the development of the capital market. Winners of the competition will receive preferential treatment in document screening when applying for employment at the Korea Exchange for the next five years.
To participate in the competition, students must submit a research proposal on the topic of the development of the domestic securities and derivatives market. After preliminary screening, 10 teams will be selected to advance to the finals, and each team will receive 1 million KRW in research funding. The final evaluation will be conducted after the submission of research results.
Ultimately, a total of six teams will be awarded prizes and scholarships: one grand prize team, two excellence award teams, and three encouragement award teams. The grand prize team will receive a scholarship of 10 million KRW, excellence award teams 6 million KRW, encouragement award teams 4 million KRW, and four finalist teams that do not receive awards will each receive 2 million KRW.
Eligibility is limited to undergraduate students enrolled in four-year universities in Korea, including those on leave of absence, and each team must consist of four undergraduate students.
A Korea Exchange official stated, "We hope for much interest and support from university students and look forward to the participation of talented students."
