Statistics Korea Holds National Statistical Methodology Symposium... Lectures by Naver AI Research Director and Others

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] The Statistics Korea announced that it will hold the "11th International Symposium on National Statistical Methodology" for two days starting from the 29th to advance national statistics and prepare for data-driven future policies. Approximately 600 experts and researchers from home and abroad are expected to participate via online live streaming.


This symposium is organized under the theme of "Data Innovation and the Leap of National Statistics." Over two days, researchers from the public, private, and academic sectors domestically and internationally will engage in discussions centered on five sub-themes: ▲Personal Data Protection ▲Data Science ▲Survey Methodology ▲Data Economy ▲Data-Driven Policy.


As a speaker, Jerry Reiter, a leading scholar in personal data protection from Duke University in the United States, will present techniques for protecting personal data in large-scale datasets.


Additionally, Ha Jung-woo, head of Naver's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Center, will introduce global trends in large-scale AI technology under the theme "The Era of Ultra-Large-Scale AI and Naver HyperCLOVA."


Moreover, Min Won-ki, president of SUNY Korea, will give a lecture on "The Advent of a Data-Centric Digital Economy," and Nick Hart, former policy director of the U.S. Congressional Evidence-Based Policy Commission, will share related case studies under the theme "Evidence-Based Policy Worldwide."


Ryu Geun-gwan, Commissioner of Statistics Korea, stated, "Through this National Statistical Methodology Symposium, Statistics Korea will lead the development of K-Statistics that ensures the linkage and utilization of private-public big data and personal data protection by listening to the research experiences and knowledge of various experts, as well as the opinions of statistical users and producers."
