Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital Builds High-Purity Cancer Data Analysis Platform with 17 Years of Accumulated Data

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital is establishing a genomic analysis platform for high-purity cancer data accumulated over 17 years since its opening.

Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital recently announced on the 27th that it signed a contract with precision diagnostic platform specialist company NgenBio to build a cloud-based genomic analysis platform.

This contract was conducted as part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'Advanced Precision Medical Industrialization Support Platform Construction Project' competition.

Accordingly, NgenBio will build a cloud-based clinical genomic analysis platform to support the analysis of clinical data and the development of precision medical services at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital.

The platform will analyze the vast cancer data accumulated over 17 years at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

Furthermore, it will be developed as a cloud platform capable of systematic management and sharing of clinical information.

Through this platform, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital plans to carry out personalized cancer diagnosis and treatment methods, customized precision medical services, AI-based medical device industrialization, and corporate support projects.

Previously, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital was selected as the recipient of the 15 billion KRW-scale 'Advanced Precision Medical Industrialization Platform Construction Project' announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

This project supports medical services that provide optimized treatments by preemptively identifying each patient's different genetic and environmental factors, disease history, and lifestyle habits, and systematically managing and providing disease prediction and prevention.

By 2023, 15 billion KRW will be invested to establish dedicated research facilities and equipment for precision medicine.

Shin Myung-geun, director of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, said, "With this contract, the genomic big data technology accumulated so far has been applied to a platform for the industrialization of precision medicine," adding, "By analyzing high-purity cancer and clinical data accumulated over 17 years, we will develop various precision medical solutions and lead next-generation precision medical services."

He added, "We will do our best to ensure that Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital continues to grow as a world-class cancer healing hospital."
