The Special Committee for the Promotion of the Gaya History Research and Restoration Project of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council held an academic symposium on the establishment of Gaya history.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] The Special Committee for the Promotion of the Gaya History Research and Restoration Project of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council held a forum on the 27th under the theme "Overcoming the Imna Japanese Headquarters Theory, Establishing Gaya History, and Integrated Utilization Plans for Heo Hwang-ok's Arrival."
The forum was organized to overcome the Imna Japanese Headquarters theory found in the Japanese Chronicles for the establishment of Gaya history, to verify the historicity of Heo Hwang-ok's arrival, and to explore the discovery of tourism resources through cultural content development.
The forum proceeded in the order of the first topic, second topic, and comprehensive discussion, with Councilor Kim Jin-gi serving as the chair and Councilor Pyo Byung-ho as the moderator.
For the first topic, "Overcoming the Imna Japanese Headquarters Theory and Establishing Gaya History," Lee Deok-il, director of the Hangaram History and Culture Research Institute, gave a keynote presentation, followed by discussions led by Professor Nam Jae-woo of Changwon National University and Professor Kim Myung-ok of Konkuk University.
The second topic, "Heo Hwang-ok's Arrival and Integrated Utilization Plans," featured a keynote presentation by Venerable Do-myeong, director of the Gaya Buddhism Research Institute, followed by discussions with City Councilor Ha Sung-ja (Gimhae), Professor Lee Dong-ju of Dong-A University, and Kim Tae-young, head of the Future Strategy Headquarters at the Gyeongnam Research Institute. A comprehensive discussion then took place to deliberate various opinions.
Hwang Jae-eun, chairperson of the special committee, stated, "We will actively strive to widely promote the excellence and value of Gaya culture through multifaceted publicity activities to raise nationwide awareness and generate interest and enthusiasm for Gaya history."
