[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A controversy has arisen after a bug was found in the food at a famous hamburger chain in Busan.

According to Yonhap News on the 27th, Mr. A, who lives in Haeundae, Busan, visited a famous hamburger chain on the 25th and ordered two hamburgers. However, his daughter in her 30s, who was eating the hamburger, said the taste was strange.

Mr. A said, "When I checked the hamburger, there was a red bug about 5cm long attached to the lettuce," adding, "My daughter had already eaten two bugs."

He continued, "I am currently keeping one live bug and plan to check whether it is harmful to health," adding, "Since many restaurants handle lettuce, thorough hygiene management awareness is necessary."

The daughter who ate the bug took anthelmintic medicine, and no particular abnormal symptoms have appeared since then.

Meanwhile, the store acknowledged the presence of the bug. The store owner said, "On the day the problem occurred, we found the bug and washed the lettuce more carefully, but this still happened," adding, "We did not know the bug was hiding, and we apologize to the affected customer."

He also stated, "The lettuce is supplied personally, not by the head office, and we plan to inquire with the supplier about this," adding, "We will discuss with the affected customer and provide appropriate compensation if necessary."
