[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] KBI Group announced on the 27th that it has signed a business agreement with NexGen Graphene Polymers to cooperate in the graphene composite material business.
The signing ceremony was held at the conference room of the Gap-Eul Building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Park Hansang, Vice Chairman of KBI Group, and Choi Jinyoung, CEO of NexGen Graphene Polymers, along with executives from both sides related to the agreement, attended the event.
KBI Group plans to verify the marketability of related products using the graphene composite materials developed by NexGen Graphene Polymers, define a concrete cooperative relationship, and establish a new technology material business cooperation system to expand domestic and international sales through the group’s affiliates in the future.
Graphene composite material products are eco-friendly and human-friendly advanced materials recently gaining the most attention due to their multiple effects such as mechanical property enhancement, electromagnetic wave shielding, static electricity prevention, high thermal conductivity, and far-infrared emission.
First, KBI Group selected three main cooperative products: △ air filters used in vehicle and general air conditioning systems △ fiber yarns and fabrics containing graphene △ graphene composite polymer materials and other applied products.
KBI Group plans to apply the graphene composite material product lineup to various products produced by applicable affiliates such as KB Autotech, Gap-Eul Hapseom, and KBI Cosmolink. Through this, the group aims to strengthen competitiveness in the existing material industry sector and improve sales and profitability with differentiated products.
Park Hansang, Vice Chairman of KBI Group, said, "In a situation where material development was difficult for each affiliate, applying cutting-edge materials like graphene will meet customer needs," and added, "We hope this agreement will be an opportunity for the group to take another leap forward by strengthening sales."
KBI Group currently focuses on the automotive parts business and wire & copper material business, and operates in steel pipes, construction, real estate, environment, energy, medical, and e-commerce sectors. With about 20 affiliates across 7 divisions, the group actively conducts global business through bases in more than 10 countries worldwide, based on the domestic and international automotive industry and various infrastructure projects.
