National City and Province Average Exceeds 60%
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hanho] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 27th that among the 1,724 beekeeping farms subject to registration under the "Act on the Promotion and Support of the Beekeeping Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the Beekeeping Industry Act), 1,454 farms had completed registration by the end of August, recording a registration rate of 84%.
The total number of beekeeping farms in Jeonbuk was 2,225 as of the end of 2020.
Among them, 1,724 farms that raise 10 or more native honeybee colonies, 30 or more Western honeybee colonies, or 30 or more colonies in mixed breeding are subject to registration.
This registration rate of Jeonbuk beekeeping farms exceeds the national city and province average (60%).
Jeonbuk Province evaluated that this was possible due to the inclusion of beekeeping farms in this year's farmers' public interest payment targets, as well as active promotion by the departments in charge of each city and county and beekeeping associations.
Jeonbuk Province plans to encourage farm registration by conducting guidance and inspections of beekeeping farms until the end of this year.
Starting in 2022, unregistered farms producing or selling beekeeping products or by-products will be subject to a fine of up to 300,000 won.
Meanwhile, Jeonbuk Province plans to conduct a detailed survey of the industry status centered on the five-year plan for the promotion of the beekeeping industry (2021?2025), hold the Samrak Nongjeong Committee forum, and discuss in depth the development direction of the beekeeping industry, which is facing difficulties due to climate change.
