[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] GS Retail announced on the 27th that its premium bread "Bredique," launched in January this year, has surpassed 10 million units sold. This means that more than 35,000 units are sold daily on average.
Bredique became a bestseller, selling 5.1 million units within 100 days of its launch, averaging one unit sold every 1.7 seconds. From January this year to the 24th of this month, GS25's premium bread sales increased by 117% compared to the same period last year, and sales of all GS25 bread products also rose by 32.3% during the same period.
GS Retail will introduce "Salt Butter Bread" on the 1st of next month. The newly launched Bredique signature product uses eco-friendly premium ingredients, including rock salt from the Alps and fermented butter from the Netherlands. A special promotion will be held throughout October, allowing customers to purchase Salt Butter Bread at half price. On the 1st of next month, to commemorate Armed Forces Day, customers who purchase any Bredique bread product using the KB Kookmin Nara Sarang Card will receive a free beverage.
A signature bread-making experience video featuring Brave Girls will also be released on GS Retail’s official social media channels. The video shows Brave Girls members completing missions through bread-making experiences, learning about the raw ingredients, participating in package design meetings, and engaging in baking activities.
A GS Retail official said, "We used carefully selected ingredients to capture the tastes of the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), who often visit popular salt bread shops," adding, "We plan to continuously introduce bread of a new dimension."
