Ministry of Science and ICT Distributes to Online Public and University Libraries

Publication of Commendation Records for 9 Newly Designated Science and Technology Contributors Science and Technology Merit Recipients' Honor Roll.


[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 27th that it has published "The Republic of Korea Science and Technology Meritorious Persons Honor Roll 4," which records the achievements of nine science and technology meritorious persons designated last year.


This book includes anecdotes, growth processes, and achievements of the nine meritorious persons, interviews with three surviving meritorious persons, and perspectives on the science and technology meritorious persons from their juniors. It features the late Kuk Chae-pyo, former Chief of the Central Intelligence Agency, Kim Myung-ja, Honorary President of the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies, the late Kim Yong-gwan, former Executive Director of the Science Knowledge Dissemination Association, Noh Seung-tak, Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University, the late Ahn Byung-sung, Senior Researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the late Yoon Neung-min, Professor Emeritus at Sogang University, the late Lim Deok-sang, former Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, and Han Moon-hee, the founding Director of the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology.


The book will be distributed in print to university libraries, academic societies, and science and technology-related organizations, and will be freely available in electronic file format through the Korean Academy of Science and Technology and the Republic of Korea Science and Technology Meritorious Persons website.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Science and ICT is promoting a project to designate scientists and technologists who have made outstanding contributions to the development of science and technology in the Republic of Korea as science and technology meritorious persons. Since the first designation of 32 persons in 2017, a total of 69 scientists and technologists have been selected as science and technology meritorious persons, including 16 in 2018, 12 in 2019, and 9 in 2020. Additional designations are planned by the end of this year as well.
