Doljanji Industry Requests "Guarantee Minimum Number of Guests for Doljanji"... Announces Solo Protest

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] Stakeholders in the first birthday party (Doljanchi) industry are staging solo protests demanding an increase in the number of attendees allowed at Doljanchi and the application of vaccine incentives.

The Safe Family Doljanchi Association, consisting of Doljanchi business owners, announced on the 26th that it will hold a press conference on the morning of the 27th in front of the Government Seoul Office, calling for the protection of the livelihood rights of business owners operating Doljanchi-related companies.

The association stated, "Since December 23 of last year, Doljanchi has been classified as a private gathering by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, causing damage for 10 months," and emphasized, "After the implementation of Level 4 social distancing in the metropolitan area, even the minimum number of attendees for Doljanchi has not been guaranteed, leaving workers without a means of livelihood."

They added, "Despite being banned and restricted from operating for over 10 months, the Doljanchi industry was excluded from the government-supported small business policy funds because the business codes to be separately collected were unclear."

They are demanding that Doljanchi be allowed to proceed with a minimum number of attendees even in Level 4 areas and that vaccine incentives be expanded. The association plans to begin solo protests starting the day of the press conference.
