'Squid Game' Ranks No.1 on Netflix Worldwide for Two Consecutive Days


Director Hwang Dong-hyuk's "Squid Game" was the most-watched show on Netflix worldwide for two consecutive days. According to FlixPatrol, an online video service (OTT) ranking site, on the 25th (local time), "Squid Game" topped the Netflix TV program world ranking again with 811 points. It widened the gap to 80 points ahead of the British drama "Sex Education" (731 points). It was the most-watched show in 66 countries, including the United States, Netflix's largest market, as well as Germany, Australia, Japan, Mexico, Canada, France, Argentina, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Belgium, Denmark, Croatia, Egypt, Norway, Spain, and Switzerland. The popularity gained in Asia and North America is spreading to Europe. Except for India (4th place), it ranked first or second in all countries.

"Squid Game" is a work about life losers who participate in a mysterious survival game with a prize of 45.6 billion won, risking their lives in extreme games. The title "Squid Game" refers to a game played on a drawing shaped like a squid, consisting of circle, triangle, and square shapes. The attacker wins by breaking through the defense and entering the circle, which corresponds to the squid's head. The megaphone was held by director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who directed films such as "The Fortress," "Miss Granny," and "Silenced." The cast includes Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Oh Young-soo, Wi Ha-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam, and Kim Joo-ryung.
