40 Confirmed Cases in Gwangju Including Contact at Taxi Driver Due to 'Chuseok Effect'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] During the Chuseok holiday period, the spread of COVID-19 is increasing in the Gwangju area due to the influx of population from the Seoul metropolitan area.

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 26th, a total of 40 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in one day, including 39 local infections and 1 imported case, classified as numbers 4834 to 4873.

Among them, 11 people were infected through contact with confirmed cases from other cities and provinces, with 4 related to Gyeonggi-do Yangju case number 1473, and 6 related to confirmed cases in Seoul.

There is a possibility that cases infected through family contact after visiting their hometown during the Chuseok holiday will increase significantly from next week, so health authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

Four cases are related to testing of foreigners located in Gwangsan-gu, 4 cases are related to manufacturing in the same district, and 2 cases are related to a logistics center.

Since the 22nd, one additional case, number 4858, related to entertainment facilities in Seo-gu where 'n-th generation infections' have been occurring, was reported.

Seven people, numbers 4836, 4848, 4852, 4860, 4861, 4863, and 4871, currently have unknown infection routes.
