[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education's Haman Library is relocating and reopening as a new complex cultural space.
On the 24th, the Haman Office of Education Support held a groundbreaking ceremony for the relocation and reconstruction of Haman Library in Dohang-ri, Gaya-eup, Haman-gun.
The Haman Library will be built on a 4,300㎡ site at 211-11 Dohang-ri, near the former Haman IC.
It will be constructed with a total floor area of 2,464㎡, consisting of one basement floor and three above-ground floors, at a cost of 8.2 billion KRW.
The Haman Library is scheduled to complete construction in July 2022 and open around November of the same year.
It will be designed not only as a space for reading books but also as a complex cultural space where various cultural and leisure activities can be enjoyed.
The existing Haman Library, which opened in 1990, had become old and cramped, causing inconvenience for residents using the facility.
In response, the Office of Education and Haman-gun signed an agreement in 2019 to promote the relocation and construction of the Haman Library.
The county supported 1 billion KRW for construction costs and allowed free use of the site for five years.
Superintendent Park Jong-hoon stated, "This is an achievement realized through cooperation between the Office of Education and Haman-gun," and added, "We expect the newly established Haman Library to become a complex cultural space that makes the lives of Haman residents happier."
Haman County Governor Jo Geun-je said, "We will spare no support and cooperation for the timely completion and operation of Haman Library."
