[Asia Economy Honam News Team, Park Jinhyung] On September 24, the Korea Railroad Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters held a campaign under a railway bridge in the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex in Gwangju Metropolitan City to prevent freight vehicle collision accidents.
This campaign, jointly organized with the Gwangsan District Office and the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex Management Council, was launched in response to accidents where freight vehicles, while driving with their wing body doors open, collided with railway bridge protective frames, resulting in damage to both vehicles and facilities. The aim is to prevent such incidents.
The Korea Railroad Gwangju-Jeonnam Headquarters is implementing several measures, including: ▲providing a detour route guidance app service through a business agreement with Mapper, a developer and operator of navigation systems exclusively for freight vehicles; ▲improving infrastructure such as relocating obstructive facilities in cooperation with the road management authority (Gwangsan District Office); and ▲establishing public-private cooperation systems and conducting joint campaigns with organizations such as the Pyeongdong Industrial Complex Management Council.
Jang Youngcheol, head of the headquarters, stated, "We will continue to make every effort to actively utilize the governance established among related organizations, not only to ensure railway safety but also to contribute to social safety and the promotion of public interest in the region."
