[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, will launch the ‘Jinju City Travel Industry Revitalization Project’ starting on the 27th to support the travel industry, which has suffered severe damage due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

This project is funded by Jinju City’s own budget and was prepared to help travel agencies develop creative travel products in response to the shift in travel patterns from group tours to small-scale individual family trips caused by COVID-19, thereby preparing for the post-pandemic tourism industry.

The support target is travel agencies located in Jinju City. Agencies that develop two or more Jinju tourism products and conduct customer recruitment activities using their own customer data will receive 1 million KRW per agency.

The first application period is from the 27th to October 13th. Applications and related documents should be submitted to the Tourism Promotion Division of Jinju City Hall. The tourism products submitted in the first round will be reviewed to determine eligibility for support. Those who pass the review must submit a second application with proof of customer recruitment activities between October 25th and October 29th.

Jinju Mayor Cho Gyu-il said, “This project was launched to provide practical support to the travel industry, which is going through a difficult time due to COVID-19,” and added, “I hope this support project helps travel industry workers overcome their difficulties.”

A Jinju city official stated, “We hope this will be an opportunity to commercialize Jinju’s hidden tourist spots through the development of various tourism products reflecting recent changes in tourism, such as carbon-free travel, eco-tourism, and healing travel.”
