[Featured Stock] Coloray Highlights Investment History in Venture by Seoul National University Research Professor Developing Hair Loss Treatment Substance

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Coloray's stock price is on the rise. The news that a research team from Seoul National University developed a substance effective in suppressing hair loss symptoms has highlighted the fact that Coloray invested in equity in a venture company led by a professor from Seoul National University Hospital who spearheaded this research.

As of 1:57 PM on the 24th, Coloray's stock price recorded 1,855 KRW, up 6.30% from the previous day. This appears to be a positive development related to the hair loss symptom suppression substance developed by domestic researchers.

The joint research team of Professor Jinho Jeong from the Department of Dermatology at Seoul National University Hospital and Professor Hyungho Lee from the Department of Chemistry at Seoul National University announced on the same day that they succeeded in developing a peptide that specifically binds to the adiponectin receptor, promoting hair growth and showing an effect in suppressing hair loss symptoms. This research result was published in the latest issue of the international journal EMBO Molecular Medicine, issued by the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).

Adiponectin is a type of protein mainly secreted by fat cells. This protein is known to play an important role in improving insulin resistance, thereby having effects that prevent obesity, diabetes, and arteriosclerosis. The research team focused on the fact that a deficiency of adiponectin in the body is associated with the severity of male pattern baldness, identifying the critical binding site of the adiponectin protein to its receptor. Using the amino acid sequence of this site, they developed a peptide capable of performing the same role as adiponectin and named it APN5.

Meanwhile, in 2018, Coloray acquired a 15% stake in Jinho Jeong Effect, a cosmetics manufacturing and sales company. At that time, Coloray stated, "As part of a new business to strategically invest in excellent overseas cosmetic brands and distribute products through a Chinese sales subsidiary," adding, "Jinho Jeong Effect possesses a differentiated competitive edge with a high-quality, high-function dermocosmetic product line developed by Professor Jinho Jeong’s team from the Department of Dermatology at Seoul National University College of Medicine."

Additionally, Jinho Jeong Effect, a venture company of Professor Jinho Jeong from the Department of Dermatology at Seoul National University Hospital, recently launched the official online site 'ABH+' that sells efficacy-focused cosmetics proven through human application tests.
