Providing Free Fair Trade Product Experience Opportunities to About 700 Residents to Enhance Accessibility and Promote Fairness Values and Culture in the Local Community, Leading the Fair Trade Movement in Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) signed the 'Seongbuk-gu Fair Trade Sharing Activity Agreement' with the selected 'Seongbuk-gu Fair Cafe' to jointly create a sustainable culture of 'fairness' within the region from August 30 to September 2.
The Seongbuk-gu Fair Cafe is operated by small business owners and organizations located in Seongbuk-gu who share the values and purpose of fair trade. They plan to handle and sell various fair trade products in their stores, including fair trade coffee, macarons, fruit syrup, soy milk, cookies, and more.
Through this project, Seongbuk-gu will provide approximately 700 residents with free opportunities to experience fair trade products, increasing accessibility to fair trade goods and further spreading the values and culture of fairness within the local community, thereby leading Korea's fair trade movement.
The fair trade product experience vouchers will be distributed from September 23 by the Seongbuk-gu Fair Trade Center and six other neighborhood resident councils, and can be used at all nine fair cafes in the region.
The participating Seongbuk-gu Fair Cafes include ▲Cafe Soil (29, Dongseon-dong 2-ga) ▲The Dual Roasters (18, Bogungmun-ro 20-gil) ▲Seongbuk Regional Self-Support Center The Masil (167, Jongam-ro) ▲Mongdang Cooperative Coffee Mongdang (177, Seongbuk-ro 4-gil) ▲Caters (292, Samseon-dong 4-ga) ▲Seongbuk Mother Center Mamkong Cafe (19-3, Arirang-ro) ▲Cafe Seolgok (22, Anam-ro 5-gil) ▲Yujeongwon Cafe (25, Bomun-ro 30-ra-gil) ▲Cafe Molida (4-10, Dongsomun-ro 6-gil), totaling nine locations.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “Through the Seongbuk-gu Fair Trade Fair Cafe sharing activities, we ask for the residents’ great interest in establishing a foundation for a ‘sustainable’ and ‘fair’ local culture.”
