Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation Executive Recommendation Committee Plans to Complete Document Screening and Interviews Next Week... Clause Allowing Interview Omission if Committee Decides Not to Conduct Interviews Raises Speculation of Targeting Specific Individuals... However, SH Official States "This Rule Was Not Newly Added in This 3rd Announcement" and "Process Will Proceed as Before," While Remaining Silent on Screening and Interview Schedule
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] The candidate for president of Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH) is expected to be finalized next week.
An SH official confirmed on the 24th, "The SH Executive Recommendation Committee is scheduled to complete the document screening and interview assessments next week."
Accordingly, the first round of document screening and the second round of interviews are expected to take place next week.
Among the candidates for SH president, former Kyungsilyeon Headquarters Chief Kim Heon-dong, who was eliminated in the second interview, has reapplied, drawing attention to whether he can make a comeback.
Notably, the third public announcement for the SH president position released on the 10th includes a provision stating, "If the Executive Recommendation Committee decides not to conduct interviews, interviews may not be held," which has attracted attention.
This provision raises suspicion that it might have been made with a specific person (former Chief Kim) in mind.
If former Chief Kim, who was eliminated in the second round, is considered, the committee could select a candidate without conducting interviews and submit the recommendation to Seoul City.
Regarding this, an SH official stated, "This provision was not specially added this time; it has existed since the first round, so it is unlikely to have been made with a specific person in mind," and added, "The Executive Recommendation Committee will be composed of the same executives as before, and the candidate recommendation process will proceed as planned."
The speculation arises because the Executive Recommendation Committee consists of four members recommended by Seoul City (two by Seoul City and two by SH) and three members recommended by the Seoul City Council.
Also, the committee has remained silent about the schedule for document screening and interviews, and after former Chief Kim Heon-dong was eliminated in the second round, a silence order seems to have been issued within SH, raising suspicions that there might be an intention to favor a specific candidate.
If the SH Executive Recommendation Committee recommends the first and second ranked candidates to Seoul City next week, Seoul City plans to submit one of them to the Seoul City Council for a personnel hearing.
