Yun Ho-jung Criticizes People Power Party's Declaration of End of War, Saying "It Destroys the Spirit of Bipartisan Diplomacy"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Yoon Ho-jung, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed regret on the 23rd over the People Power Party's criticism of President Moon Jae-in's achievements during his visit to the United States.

At the policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Floor Leader Yoon raised his voice, saying, "The president is conducting vaccine diplomacy, peace diplomacy, and future diplomacy on the stage of the United Nations, but the opposition leader's actions, which hindered this by mentioning the end of the term, not only destroyed the spirit of bipartisan diplomacy but also showed that the opposition itself has lost its ability and will to govern. This is nothing more than a farce."

He continued, "The Democratic Party proposed a resolution last year urging a declaration of the end of the Korean War. We will create a Korean Peninsula model that enjoys peace through cooperation," adding, "The National Assembly should support this through bipartisan cooperation with the opposition, but the opposition's actions before and after the president's UN visit are regrettable."

Regarding President Moon's proposal of a declaration of the end of the war in his speech, he said, "It reaffirmed to the world the will to promote the Korean Peninsula peace process," and added, "The international community and both South and North Korea must join forces. We urge a change in attitude and cooperation from the North Korean authorities for this."

On the allegations of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's involvement in instigating complaints, he criticized, "The People Power Party's disgraceful negative attacks have caused frowns during the holiday season." Floor Leader Yoon emphasized, "The people I met during this Chuseok said that the People Power Party has not resolved the past of state affairs manipulation and continues to disrupt national order even as the opposition," and stressed, "If the People Power Party cannot break away from the past, it will face stern judgment from the people."
