[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Hong Jun-pyo, a presidential candidate from the People Power Party, is launching pledges targeting the relatively weaker support base of 'women.'

On the 23rd, Hong stated on Facebook, "Next week, I plan to comprehensively organize and announce pledges for the women's sector to persuade the relatively underperforming female demographic."

He continued, "The person I respect most in this world is my mother, I have lived my life devoted only to my wife, and I have done my utmost to protect the family community. Although I have worked for women, who make up half of the population, I want to turn the hearts of women who have misunderstood me over a few trivial words by comprehensively organizing and announcing pledges for the women's sector," he emphasized.

Hong has previously faced criticism for making sexually harassing and sexist remarks. He told former lawmaker Na Kyung-won, "Look in the mirror and put on makeup," and to a female reporter, "You might really get hit." He also caused controversy by referring to Ewha Womans University students as "I hate those Ewha girls," and saying, "Those annoying brats, I want to beat them up."
