First Appointment of a Civilian Expert from Korea

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has appointed Professor Jang Ha-joon of the University of Cambridge as a new member of its International Advisory Panel.
On the 22nd, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that Professor Jang has been appointed as an advisor to the AIIB. His term is two years.
Professor Jang will be responsible for advising on key issues such as AIIB's strategy, policies, and operational directions.
This is the first time a private expert of Korean origin has been appointed as an advisor to the AIIB.
Professor Jang graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in economics and earned his master's and doctoral degrees in economics from the University of Cambridge in the UK. Since 1990, he has been serving as a professor in the Department of Economics at the same university. He gained recognition by receiving the Myrdal Prize in 2003, awarded to economists who propose alternatives to neoliberal economics, and the Leontief Prize in 2005, given to scholars who broaden the horizons of economics.
Meanwhile, his published works include "23 Things They Don't Tell You About Capitalism," "Bad Samaritans," and "Kicking Away the Ladder."
