BTS New York UN 'Permission to Dance' Video Surpasses 12 Million Views

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Eunbyeol] The video of the group BTS's recent 'Permission to Dance' performance at the United Nations (UN) headquarters surpassed 12 million views on the official UN YouTube account in less than two days since its release.

According to the UN YouTube account on the 22nd, the BTS UN headquarters performance video, posted by the UN around 10 p.m. on the 20th, exceeded 12.32 million views as of 4 p.m. Korean time that day. It is the most viewed video among all videos on the UN YouTube account.

In the video description, the UN referred to BTS as a "K-pop sensation" and stated, "This video aims to gather audience empathy on the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals and inspire action." Other BTS videos uploaded on the UN YouTube account also garnered millions of views. An interview video at the UN headquarters recorded 3.42 million views, and two speech videos at the UN General Assembly hall totaled 3.54 million views.

Earlier on the 20th, BTS attended the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment event held at the UN General Assembly hall in New York as "Special Presidential Envoys for Future Generations and Culture." Through their speech, they delivered a message of hope to the younger generation and unveiled the 'Permission to Dance' performance video staged at the UN headquarters.

It was reported that BTS began preparing for the performance immediately upon arriving in New York, completing filming while moving inside and outside the UN General Assembly hall and building.

It also became a hot topic that the suits BTS wore at this event were not from overseas luxury brands but were made by Kolon FnC's upcycling fashion brand 'RE;CORD.' RE;CORD stated on Instagram the day before, "This suit was designed to support BTS's UN speech and to express sustainable fashion to the fullest."

Meanwhile, BTS released an 'Extended Version' of the UN headquarters performance video on their official YouTube channel 'BANGTANTV' the day before. This video also received a positive response, surpassing 4.5 million views within a day of its release.
