Foreign Media Also Focus on BTS's Speech at the UN General Assembly The group BTS is delivering a speech at the 76th United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA, on the 20th (local time).

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The group BTS delivered a message at the 76th United Nations General Assembly as the 'Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture,' drawing attention from foreign media.

On the 20th, BTS conveyed the voices of youth and future generations to the world during the opening session of the UN General Assembly special event, the 'Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment.' They introduced stories of young generations striving to live healthier lives amid the COVID-19 pandemic and created a sense of empathy.

Regarding the future generation unafraid of challenges, BTS emphasized, "Rather than being called the 'Lost Generation' due to COVID-19, the name 'Welcome Generation' suits better," explaining, "It means a generation that says 'welcome' instead of being scared of change and moves forward." After delivering their speech entirely in Korean, the members captivated attention by performing the lively 'Permission to Dance' across various locations at the UN General Assembly venue.

Major U.S. media outlets covered BTS's activities in depth. The New York Times published an article titled "BTS Takes the Main Stage at the UN... Over One Million Fans Watched Live" on its homepage. The Washington Post also mentioned, "One million viewers watched the event that heated up Monday," adding, "The seven members shared the experiences of the younger generation and discussed how their perspectives on the future are changing due to the pandemic."

Music-focused media Billboard introduced, "BTS brought a message of love and community to the global stage. They delivered a message of hope to the young generation focused on making the world a cleaner and more efficient place."

Regarding BTS's third UN speech following those in 2018 and 2020, IT media Mashable described, "BTS is now a regular at the UN," while major outlets such as Rolling Stone, Variety, and Teen Vogue also spotlighted BTS's UN General Assembly speech and performance.

Meanwhile, BTS is actively carrying out special envoy activities including the speech at the 76th UN General Assembly, the UN SDG Moment interview, a visit to the Korean Gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and an interview with the U.S. ABC network.
