Blue-Eyed Jockey Achieves 600 Total Wins at Korea Racing Authority Busan-Gyeongnam Horse Racing Park

Trainer Ulzly who achieved a total of 600 wins at Busan-Gyeongnam Horse Racing Park.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Woolsley, a trainer at Korea Racing Authority Busan-Gyeongnam Racecourse, achieved a personal milestone of 600 career wins at the age of 58.

Trainer Woolsley reached his 600th career victory on the 17th when his racehorse ‘Le Concorde’ won the 3rd race at Busan-Gyeongnam (Domestic Grade 6, 1300m).

The race was held under poor track conditions due to a typhoon. Le Concorde (Gelding, 3 years old, Korea), ridden by jockey Lee Sung-jae, had a slow start and settled in 6th place early on, then aimed for a top position through the middle stages of the race.

From 200 meters before the finish line, Le Concorde surged forward with explosive speed, widening the gap by 4 lengths from ‘Crown King Star’ to claim victory.

Trainer Woolsley is originally from Australia and has honed his skills as a trainer through experiences in Australia, China, and Dubai.

He debuted at Busan-Gyeongnam Racecourse in 2007, becoming the first foreign trainer in South Korea.

Trainer Woolsley has entered a total of 3,406 races with a winning rate of 17.6% (place rate 30.9%, show rate 41.5%).

He holds records of winning major races such as the 2011 Owners’ Cup, the 2013 Gyeongnam Governor’s Cup, and the 2015 Grand Prix.

In a post-race interview, Trainer Woolsley expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am thankful to my stable staff who always work hard and to jockey Lee Sung-jae. This win is also the first victory for my good friend, owner James Whitfield.”

He added, “Le Concorde was in good condition, so I felt we could achieve the 600th win.”
