[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Yoon Seok-yeol, the People Power Party's presidential candidate and former Prosecutor General, appeared on the SBS variety show 'Master in the House' on the 19th and candidly answered the hosts' questions.
On that day’s SBS 'Master in the House,' Yoon received some unusual questions from the hosts. The so-called 'Chu-Yoon conflict' was also mentioned. When the hosts asked if he felt stressed because of former Minister Chu, Yoon indirectly replied, "What is there to be stressed about?"
However, the cast members, suspicious of Yoon’s answer, used a lie detector. When the detector showed a 'false' response, Yoon admitted, "I thought it was just a toy, but the machine is really good."
When asked to imagine news about Korea’s future after he becomes president, he answered, "I want to sit closely with students at a pub in front of a university, drinking draft beer without masks."
He added, "I will spend my salary and say, 'You all eat as much as you want today,' and ring the golden bell once. As an older generation, I am sorry for not giving young people hope for the country’s future. I want to tell them not to lose courage."
He also honestly revealed what he envies about the ruling party’s presidential candidates.
When asked if there are qualities he wants to take from former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon and Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung, Yoon replied, "I want to take meticulousness from former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon and guts from Governor Lee Jae-myung." When asked if he thinks he looks far better than the two, he honestly answered, "No," which drew laughter from those around him.
Yoon also emphasized, "Sharing a meal is the basis of communication. I will always have lunch and dinner with opposition figures, journalists, and citizens who need encouragement. Even if I have to eat two meals, I will communicate over meals."
He then expressed his determination, saying, "I will never hide in front of the people. Whatever happens, whether I do well or wrong, I will face the people."
