At the event, table tennis player Joo Young-dae, weightlifter Kim Hyung-hee, shooters Kim Su-wan, Moon Ae-kyung, Seo Young-gyun, cyclist Lee Kyung-hwa, and table tennis coach Kim Min, who participated in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics from last month 24th to this month 5th and elevated the status of South Korea and Gyeongnam, attended.
On this day, Acting Governor Ha Byung-pil personally placed the gold medal around Joo Young-dae’s neck and, along with coach Kim Min, presented prize money, while encouragement money was given to the other athletes.
Acting Governor Ha Byung-pil said, "I thank the athletes who proudly competed against the world’s top players and showed the spirit of sportsmanship by doing their best," adding, "Gyeongnam Province will also do its best to further develop sports for the disabled."
Gold medalist Joo Young-dae said, "It was an honor to participate in an international competition as a member of Gyeongnam and repay the residents with good results," and expressed, "I ask for more interest and support from Gyeongnam Province for the development of sports for the disabled."
The athletes are currently dedicating themselves to training to demonstrate their best skills at the 41st National Sports Festival for the Disabled, which will be held in Gyeongbuk from the 20th to the 25th of next month.
Meanwhile, Acting Governor Ha Byung-pil visited the COVID-19 Comprehensive Situation Room, Disaster Safety Integrated Situation Room, and 119 Comprehensive Situation Room ahead of Chuseok to encourage on-site and emergency workers.
