[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] Starting next month, Zambia and Djibouti will be newly included in the 'countries excluded from quarantine exemption.'

The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 17th that, due to concerns about the spread of infections from overseas entrants exempted from quarantine after completing vaccination amid the spread of variants, they have comprehensively considered the status of confirmed cases entering the country and variant prevalence rates to select 20 countries excluded from quarantine exemption for vaccinated individuals in October.

Currently, the government applies quarantine exemption to vaccinated individuals entering from abroad, but those entering from countries excluded from the quarantine exemption cannot receive the exemption even if they have completed vaccination.

Accordingly, holders of overseas vaccination quarantine exemption certificates and domestic vaccinated individuals entering from countries excluded from quarantine exemption for vaccinated individuals after October 1 will be excluded from quarantine exemption.

The 20 countries excluded from quarantine exemption for vaccinated individuals in October are Namibia, South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Brazil, Suriname, Angola, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Chile, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Trinidad and Tobago, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Zambia, and Djibouti.

The 18 countries excluded from quarantine exemption this month?Ghana, Nepal, Russia, Lebanon, Vietnam, Botswana, United Arab Emirates, Haiti, Eswatini, Oman, Jordan, India, Japan, Zimbabwe, Kuwait, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Turkey?will be eligible for quarantine exemption starting next month.
