[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The family of Lee Mo (40), a delivery agency owner who took his own life due to collective bullying by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Delivery Workers' Union, filed a complaint with the police on the 17th against 13 delivery union members for defamation and other charges.
Lee's wife, Park Mo (40), stated at a press conference held in front of the Gimpo Police Station in Gimpo City, Gyeonggi Province, that morning, "We have filed a complaint with the police against 13 delivery workers, including those who drove my husband to death, for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization (defamation) and insult."
The 13 individuals include seven union members from the Janggi delivery agency who participated in the group chat where the collective bullying occurred, and six others outside the Janggi delivery agency.
Park said, "The accused can only be seen as having the intention to collectively bully the deceased, forcing him to step down as the head of the Janggi delivery agency and take over the agency's operating rights. We cannot forgive those who drove him to such an extreme choice, and we have submitted the complaint with the determination that no more victims like him should be neglected."
The complaint includes demands for strict investigation and punishment regarding a total of 30 counts of defamation and 69 counts of insult committed by the 13 delivery union members. Park and the CJ Logistics Delivery Agency Association plan to actively cooperate with the police investigation, including voluntary submission of mobile phones.
