[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] Park Ji-won, Director of the National Intelligence Service, issued warning messages toward former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, saying things like "Why are you stepping on the tail of a sleeping tiger?" and "It would be advantageous for me to keep my mouth shut." In response, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, expressed strong regret.
On the 17th, after finishing the "100-day Inauguration Press Conference" at the National Assembly, Lee met with reporters and said, "I strongly regret that there were even threatening remarks," adding, "Seeing attempts to silence by mentioning past connections with the candidate, I think this political interference is even more problematic than the meeting with Cho Seong-eun."
Lee continued, "Director Park should separately express regret about that part," and pointed out, "He is someone who knows politics well and should not have forgotten his duties as the head of the National Intelligence Service. Since it was so unusual for him to act that way, it raises other suspicions."
Regarding the 'allegation of prosecution request,' he said, "Regarding the August complaint, Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won was aware of it and recognized there was no problem."
Meanwhile, at the 100-day inauguration press conference, Lee emphasized the party's 'irreversible change' for winning next year's presidential election. He said, "We must advance reforms to an extent that the Democratic Party of Korea cannot follow," adding, "We will complete irreversible political reform with a spirit of perseverance and win the election."
He also said, "There is not just one way to win the presidential election. The path most familiar to us is also very familiar to the opponent," and added, "A change in thinking is necessary. While blocking the current administration and ruling party's unilateral rule and arrogance at the Nakdong River, we must simultaneously land troops in Incheon, where no one expects it, to win the presidential election."
