According to Nam-gu on the 17th, a unification education session for Nam-gu district office officials and a unification touring lecture for residents of Bongseon 2-dong will be held on the 24th.
First, the unification education for Nam-gu district office officials will be held online via the Nam-gu YouTube channel from 2 p.m. on the day, lasting about one hour.
This education is conducted in accordance with the Unification Education Support Act, which mandates that local government officials receive at least one hour of unification education annually based on belief in liberal democracy, a sense of national community, and a sound security perspective to achieve unification.
Nam-gu plans to invite Professor Kang Joo-won from Seoul National University as the lecturer to provide unification education to all district office employees under the theme "Inter-Korean Exchange and Meetings."
Professor Kang, who has conducted research related to North Korea in the border area of Dandong, China, will reflect on the past and present of inter-Korean exchanges and lecture on the future of the South and North on that day.
On the same day, from 4 p.m., a unification touring lecture to prepare for the unification era in the private sector will be held at the Bongseon 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
Thirty-two members of the Bongseon 2-dong Community Leaders Council will attend, and they will have a session to learn about North Korea in preparation for the upcoming unification era.
A Nam-gu official stated, "A mood of reconciliation is being created between the previously divided South and North, and unification has become an important issue that can no longer be postponed for the Korean ethnic community." He added, "We will do our best to promote unification education so that the unification movement starting from the local community can be further activated."
