[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk Province and the Jeonbuk Branch of the Safety Evaluation Research Institute have joined hands to establish a foundation for the independence of local youth.
The city and the Jeonbuk Branch of the Safety Evaluation Research Institute (hereafter Safety Evaluation Jeonbuk Branch) signed a business agreement on the 17th at the city hall’s medium conference room to operate the ‘Jeonbuk (Jeongeup) Win-Win Support Center’ and pledged to work towards the development and revitalization of startups.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Yoo Jin-seop, Han Soo-cheol, head of the Safety Evaluation Jeonbuk Branch, and six other city officials.
According to the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate to promote the development and revitalization of startups in Jeongeup City by sharing information on startup support status, infrastructure, and planned projects.
They also plan to discover joint projects for regional startup development and identify ways to connect and nurture startup companies between the institutions.
To this end, the Safety Evaluation Jeonbuk Branch will provide space, technology transfer, and human resource development support for the Win-Win Support Center, which will be fully operational starting next year.
The city will support and cooperate in operating the Win-Win Support Center and will be responsible for recruiting and managing resident youth entrepreneurs.
Through this agreement, the city and the Safety Evaluation Jeonbuk Branch expect to foster local talent and train professionals, creating a virtuous cycle effect of technology startups, startup company workforce support, and local talent employment.
Head Han Soo-cheol stated, “We will utilize the excellent personnel, facility infrastructure, and specialized technology of the Safety Evaluation Jeonbuk Branch to nurture young talent and cooperate to contribute to the growth of the local industry.”
Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “Through this agreement, we have created an opportunity to support youth startups with new items utilizing the cutting-edge science and technology of the Safety Evaluation Jeonbuk Branch. We will actively support maximizing the synergy effect of local youth startups.”
Meanwhile, the Safety Evaluation Jeonbuk Branch, located in the Sinjeong-dong Advanced Science Industrial Complex, is the only government-funded research institute in Korea specializing in toxicology research.
