Prosecutors Appeal Suspended Sentence Ruling for Netizen Who Disclosed Park Won-soon Victim's Personal Information

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A, a 47-year-old suspect accused of posting the personal information of the victim in the sexual harassment case involving former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon on social networking services (SNS), has been sentenced to a suspended prison term, but the prosecution has appealed the decision.

According to the legal community on the 17th, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office submitted an appeal to Judge Son Jeong-yeon of the Criminal Division 6 of the Seoul Eastern District Court, the court of first instance, the day before.

A was sentenced in the first trial to one year in prison with a two-year suspension for posting a message titled "I accuse the planned Me Too female secretary" on a Naver Band and blog with over 1,300 members, revealing the victim's name and workplace in August of last year.

During the trial, A's side claimed, "The victim's personal information was obtained through web searches, and there was no intention to cause pain or attack the victim." The prosecution argued, "The matter is serious as the victim even changed her name due to this case," and requested a one-year prison sentence for A.
