[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] CU announced on the 16th that it will exclusively launch the ‘Life Belgian Wit Lager Can,’ well known as Marilyn Monroe beer, in collaboration with the craft beer specialty store ‘Craft Bros.’
The Life Belgian Wit Lager Can is the first product in the Life Beer series released in convenience stores through a partnership between Craft Bros. and Life Magazine. Founded in 1936, Life Magazine is a photo magazine representing 20th-century America, known for its weekly sales of 13 million copies and featured as the magazine company in the movie ‘Walter Mitty.’
The Life Beer series features packaging with photos of famous figures such as James Dean, Che Guevara, and Winston Churchill, as well as historic moments like the moon landing and the end of World War II. Each product offers a unique flavor, receiving positive responses from craft beer enthusiasts.
The newly introduced Life Belgian Wit Lager Can includes a photo of Marilyn Monroe. This photo was taken by photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt at Marilyn Monroe’s home in Hollywood and became famous after being featured in the March 1953 issue of Life Magazine. The product is brewed with Citra and Equanot hops, allowing consumers to enjoy the smooth flavor characteristic of wheat beer and the clean taste of lager. It features a fresh and sweet aroma using natural ingredients such as yuzu peel, orange peel, and coriander seeds, making it easy for craft beer beginners to enjoy without burden.
A BGF Retail official stated, “The Life Beer series is very popular due to its attractive packaging and the diverse flavors created by different combinations of hops and yeast in each product. We expect a strong response from customers and are currently planning to introduce additional products with the brewery.”
