Choi Jae-hyung Declares Camp Disbandment, Vows Counterattack: "From Defense to Offense"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Choi Jae-hyung, former Auditor General and presidential candidate of the People Power Party, expressed his determination on the 15th to launch a major counterattack, mentioning the Incheon Landing Operation after declaring the dissolution of his campaign.

On the same day, Choi stated on social media (SNS), "I will shift from defense to offense, from protection to counterattack." The night before, he announced his intention to dissolve the existing presidential campaign and switch to a People- and practical-oriented election strategy.


He said, "On this day, September 15, 1950, the Incheon Landing Operation took place, which reversed the course of the Korean War," adding, "It was a historic operation that instantly turned around a war situation on the brink of disaster."


Choi wrote, "I write this with a heart standing on the edge of a cliff," and declared, "I will fight for the free Republic of Korea with the courage and determination like that of the Incheon Landing Operation."


He also said, "I remember again the ROK soldiers and UN forces who risked their lives to protect the collapsing liberal democracy."


Meanwhile, Choi passed the first party presidential candidate cut-off on the same day, reducing the number of preliminary candidates from 11 to 8.
